Chocolate bar sauce, with its rich, caramel-like consistency and flavor, is quick and easy to make, and perfect to serve with ice cream, sorbet or soft-serve.
It can be made ahead of time and re-heated, or made directly before use.
A microwave is the perfect aid here, although the chocolate can be melted in a small saucepan on the stove. Add cream or milk to get the desired richness and consistency.
As chocolate bars come in all shapes and sizes, use whatever size is in stock, with a little milk or cream to blend. The recipe below is probably enough for about 4 generous servings – add more bars for more sauce.
- 2 1.84-ounce Milky Way bars, cut into pieces
- 2 tablespoons milk, cream or half-and-half
- Heat the chocolate and milk in a jug in the microwave (melt cycle or low power with frequent breaks for stirring) or in a small saucepan on the stovetop.
- Stir or use a small whisk to blend, and adjust the consistency by adding a little more milk, cream or half-and-half.
